Benjamin Franklin (1706 – 1790), imprimeur, éditeur, naturaliste, inventeur (du paratonnerre...), écrivain et homme politique et d’Etat américain (6ème Président de Pennsylvanie, ambassadeur des Etats-Unis d’Amérique). Il se retirera des affaires à l’âge de 42 ans afin de se consacrer à ses concitoyens en entrant en politique. Il sera à l’origine de la création des premiers sapeurs-pompiers volontaires à Philadelphie mais aussi de la première bibliothèque de prêt des États-Unis. Il participera à la déclaration d’indépendance dont il sera l’un des signataires, puis à la rédaction de la Constitution des États-Unis. Il est également considéré comme l’un des pères fondateurs des Etats-Unis…

Benjamin Franklin (1706 – 1790), printer, publisher, naturalist, inventor (of the lightning rod…), writer and politician and statesman (6th President of Pennsylvania, ambassador of the United States of America). He retired from business at the age of 42 to devote himself to his fellow citizens by entering politics. He will be at the origin of the creation of the first volunteer firefighters in Philadelphia but also of the first lending library in the United States. He was one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence and later participated in the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. He is also considered one of the founding fathers of the United States.
