Auguste Marie Joseph Jean Léon Jaurès, dit Jean Jaurès (1859 – 1914), est un célèbre homme politique socialiste français, assassiné à Paris le 31 juillet 1914. Il obtiendra une agrégation de philosophie à l’Ecole normale supérieure (ENS) avant de devenir en 1885 le plus jeune député républicain à la Chambre des députés. Il prendra ensuite le parti des ouvriers. En 1905, Jaurès sera l’un des rédacteurs de la loi de séparation des Églises et de l’État.
