Douglas MacArthur (1880 – 1964) est un célèbre général américain et field marshal philippin. Il servit pendant la Première Guerre mondiale en s’illustrant notamment pendant la seconde bataille de la Marne. Durant les années 1930, Il fut le chef d’état-major de l’armée américaine, et fut l’un des grands artisans de la victoire lors des combats dans le Pacifique lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il reçut la Medal of Honor pour son service durant la campagne des Philippines. En 1945, MacArthur exercera l’autorité sur le Japon par l’intermédiaire de l’administration japonaise et de l’empereur Hirohito. En 1950, il deviendra le chef militaire des armées pendant la guerre de Corée tout en demeurant e commandant suprême des forces alliées au Japon…
