A Flock of Seagulls est un groupe de new wave et de synth-pop originaire de Liverpool, en Angleterre. Le groupe a été formé en 1979 par le chanteur et claviériste Mike Score, le batteur Ali Score, le bassiste Frank Maudsley et le guitariste Paul Reynolds.

Leur premier single, « Telecommunication », est sorti en 1981 et a connu un succès modéré. Cependant, c’est leur single suivant, « I Ran (So Far Away) », qui a propulsé le groupe sur la scène internationale. Sorti en 1982, « I Ran (So Far Away) » a été un énorme succès commercial, atteignant la 9e place du classement des singles aux États-Unis et la 1ère place dans plusieurs autres pays.

Le groupe a sorti plusieurs albums au cours des années 80, notamment leur premier album éponyme, « A Flock of Seagulls », en 1982, suivi de « Listen » en 1983 et « The Story of a Young Heart » en 1984.
