Georges Clemenceau, dit le Tigre, (1841 – 1929), est un médecin de formation, maire du 18ème arrondissement de Paris au début de sa carrière politique et contemporain de Louise Michel, défendant l’amnistie pour les communards, militant en faveur de la restitution de l’Alsace-Moselle, homme d’État français, président du Conseil de 1906 à 1909 puis de 1917 à 1920. Anticlérical avéré, il prône également la séparation de l’Eglise et de l’Etat. S’opposant à la décolonisation, il ne soutiendra plus le gouvernement de Jules Ferry. Le surnom de Tigre lui a été donné après sa nomination en tant que ministre de l’Intérieur en 1906, c’est à dire en tant que « premier flic de France ». En 1917, il sera nommé une nouvelle fois président du Conseil et formera un gouvernement consacré à la poursuite de la guerre et se verra attribuer ainsi un autre surnom, celui de  » Père la Victoire  » à l’issue du conflit…
