L’été arrive, il fait beau, il fait bon, même déjà trop chaud pour la saison. Allez ! Tout le monde dehors ! Il est temps d’aller à la plage !!! Et il me trotte dans la tête -depuis quelques jours – cet air tout droit sorti de la fin des années 50. Un p’tit air léger, frais, joyeux où amour d’été et insouciance mêlent leur corps pour t’inviter loin d’ici, là-bas, tout là-bas sur l’île de Santa Catalina…

Et j’en profite aujourd’hui pour saluer Marie des Vignes, Dom de: Les petits bla-bla de Dom, Hélène (Gibulène), Jean-Louis de Tout l’opéra ou presque, Karouge, Patrick Bataille Paul Vincent Cannon, Dandanjean, Phil Perkins, Carnets Paresseux, et tant d’autres amis de la blogosphère… «

Vingt-six miles à travers la mer
Santa Catalina m’attend,
Santa Catalina, l’île de la romance,
de l’amour, de l’amour, de l’amour.

De l’eau tout autour d’elle, partout,
des arbres tropicaux et l’air salé,
mais pour moi, ce qui m’attend, c’est la romance.
Elle semble si lointaine, à vingt-six miles de là, se reposant dans l’eau sereinement.
Je travaillerais pour n’importe qui, même la marine, qui me ferait flotter jusqu’à mon île de rêve.

The Four Preps est un quartet de musique populaire américaine fondé vers 1956 par quatre étudiants à la Hollywood High School : Bruce Belland, Ed Cobb, Marv Ingram et Glen A. Larson (était également un célèbre, producteur de télévision, scénariste et réalisateur américain). Dans les années 1950, 1960 et 1970, le groupe a enregistré huit singles d’or et trois albums d’or. Leurs tubes qui se sont vendues à des millions d’exemplaires : « 26 Miles (Santa Catalina) », « Big Man », « Lazy Summer Night » et « Down by the Station »…

Summer is coming, the weather is nice, it is even too hot for the season. Let’s go! Everybody out! It’s time to go to the beach! And it’s been playing in my head -for a few days- this air straight out of the end of the 50s. A little light, fresh, joyful air where summer love and carefreeness mix their bodies to invite you far from here, over there, all over there on the island of Santa Catalina…
