Take the A Train est un célèbre titre de jazz composé en 1939 par le pianiste-compositeur américain Billy Strayhorn. C’est Duke Ellington qui l’enregistrera et l’arrangera pour la première fois en 1941. Il sera par la suite maintes fois repris comme ici par Oscar Peterson.

Oscar Emmanuel Peterson (1925 – 2007), est un pianiste de jazz, virtuose et compositeur canadien. Il fut surnommé le « Maharaja du clavier » par Duke Ellington « . Il produira plus de 200 enregistrements, remportera de nombreux prix dont sept Grammy Awards, un prix pour l’ensemble de sa carrière décerné par la Recording Academy, et de nombreuses dinstinctions : en 1984 l’Ordre du Canada, en 1991 l’Ordre national du Québec…
